IPTV

IP technology allows telecommunications operators to provide high bandwidth services, such as digital television, over an existing telephone network. The data is encapsulated in IP and transmitted on-demand to a set-top box located in the home which receives, decrypts and displays the signal on a television set. IP allows operators to provide high-bandwidth two-way interactive services. Our award-winning, hybrid IPTV products enable operators to offer an exciting mix of triple play, on-demand and personalised entertainment options. The ADB platform increases revenue per subscriber, whilst at the same time eliminating expensive duplication in network infrastructure investment. By combining complementary broadcasts from cable, satellite or terrestrial transmissions, all our IPTV products can optimise the use of broadcast bandwidth through AVC/H.264 technology. iptv Product

Terrestrial
Terrestrial Product Terrestrial technology utilises airwaves to transmit and receive digital data using radio signals. The signals are transmitted from a central antenna and received on smaller antennae located on consumers’ homes where the signal is revived and decoded by a set-top box. Terrestrial distribution is limited to one-way transmission in the consumer space, though the operators often use the incumbent telecommunications network to provide two-way, interactive services. ADB's award-winning range of digital terrestrial products combine advanced, yet cost-effective technology, with ‘plug and play' installation to ensure optimisation for retail distribution. ADB provides products that are supplied under its own iCAN™ brand or through the high profile brands of various OEM partners.

Satellite
Satellite Product Satellite technology uses orbital satellites to receive and ‘beam’ digital data to geographical footprints. Signals are transmitted from an uplink station to the satellite where they are then broadcast to consumers who receive the signal on a dish antennae - the signals are then received and decoded via a set-top box. Satellite is a powerful way of reaching consumers in geographically dispersed and topographically challenged areas where there is no need to run a physical wire, however, the technology is only economically viable in the mass market for transmitting signals - operators often use the telecommunications network to provide two-way interactive services. ADB provides a full range of satellite products from entry-level set-top boxes through to state-of-the-art, high definition digital video recorders. All products have a flexible choice of return path depending on network requirements and our advanced set-top boxes have the additional ability to access broadband services such as video-on- demand.

Cable
Cable Product Cable technology employs a physical ‘cable’ connection between the source of television data - known as the head-end - and the home. The transmission method is particularly effective in densely populated areas with constant topography and offers the benefit of high-bandwidth two-way communications. As with all digital television reception, consumers require a set-top box to receive and decode television services and the presence of a cable-modem allows consumers to receive high-bandwidth services such as video-on-demand. ADB provides a complete portfolio of cable products for operators' specific network requirements. All products feature a flexible choice of return path such as V.92 modem for low-level two-way activity, or either an Ethernet interface or fully integrated DOCSIS® modem for high-speed, two-way communications.
