History

A pioneer of digital TV founded in 1995, ADB Group focuses on solutions for advanced digital television. It aims at building a group of operating companies that cover the full range of technologies and solutions required to view and interact with digital television carried over any broadcast network type: cable, terrestrial, satellite, IP. The Group is constantly expanding its technology and product portfolio to cover the full set of solutions required by this high-tech, fast growing industry.

With more than 60% of its staff engaged in Research and Development activities, it leads innovation and new products introduction: High-Definition (HD), IPTV, PVR, Hybrid technologies, middleware, Video-on-Demand, 3D graphics, advanced contents are all part of the Group's expanding product portfolio. The manufacturing of its products is totally subcontracting to world-class manufacturing services companies. 'The Group operates through its principal business segment:

Europe 500 Digital TV Equipment: design, manufacture, marketing and sale of consumer premises equipment, including set-top boxes and integrated TV modules. This segment operates essentially under the Group's ADB and i-CAN brands, and has shipped over 13 million STB units since inception. It also provides software products, middleware licensing, development tools, and services including testing, integration and other services through Vidiom Systems brand. 

Thanks to its fast growth, ADB Group was awarded as one of the 500 fastest growing European company by Europe's 500 – Entrepreneurs for growth.

2004
  • First MHP Terrestrial receiver capable of receiving Per Pay View football in Italy
  • First IPTV receiver with Advanced Video Compression ("AVC") H264

2005
  • First STB vendor to integrate and launch a DOCSIS-based cable STB with NDS' XTV technology (HOT Israel)
  • First to market with STB solution based on STMicroelectronics STi5100 (3100S for DBS)
  • First MHP DVR receiver
2006
  • First to deploy hybrid, single-chip, AVC, HD IPTV STB with Telefonica, Spain
  • First HD/MPEG4 coverage of the Winter Olympics - ADB participates with the RAI for the Italy Winter Olympics
  • First HD digital cable STB to Starhub for Southeast Asia's first HDTV trial (during World Cup)
  • First HD field trial on the UK's DTT networks - ADB supplies STBs to the BBC, Channel 4, Five & ITV
2007
