| ADB Crowned TV Innovator of the Year by IMS Research in the USA |
8th October 2009 – Geneva, Switzerland and Denver, USA: Advanced Digital Broadcast (www.adbglobal.com), a leading supplier of technology to the global digital television industry, announced today that it has been named “TV Innovator of the Year” at the 2009 TV Innovation Awards. The announcement was made at the TV 3.0 conference, organized by IMS Research. In addition to this overall award, the ADB-4820C high definition set-back box was recognized as the best set-top box technology. The TV Innovation Awards recognize the most forward thinking companies creating products and services that drive the new TV paradigm. Judged by an independent panel of industry experts, and administered by IMS Research, these awards give companies the opportunity to showcase their solutions to a wide and diverse audience. From the winners of the individual award categories, the judges chose the overall Innovator of the Year Award winner, for which ADB was honored this year. “I want to thank the Innovation Awards selection committee and IMS for these awards”, said François Pogodalla, CEO at Advanced Digital Broadcast. “We are focused on shaking the TV industry throughout the world with advanced innovation, based on the conviction that complex technology does not have to appear complicated: it should be easy for operators to deploy and for consumers to use. With our products we prove this!”. “We are delighted to receive this recognition. The ADB-4820C is a perfect example of how ADB’s imaginative approach to engineering produces truly differentiating results for the cable industry,” said Tim Schermerhorn, SVP & GM of Advanced Digital Broadcast’s Americas cable business unit. “This product embeds our own best-in-class OCAP stack, is very fast and responsive, has high video and sound quality, and provides consumers with an unparalleled user experience. At the same time it is fitted with an impressive collection of installation and diagnostic tools that make it easier and faster for operators to set up - which is pretty much the philosophy of our entire US Cable product line”. The ADB-4820C set-back box offers cable operators and their subscribers a number of innovations that enhance their TV viewing experience. The device mounts to the back of a plasma or LCD television panel and uses the latest HDMI-CEC™ technology to enable a single remote control to be used for both the TV and the set-back box. The ADB-4820C can also be turned into a DVR by any consumer in the blink of an eye, simply by connecting to it a USB hard-disk. It has also been designed to meet the low-energy consumption levels set by standard bodies such as Energy Star®. Advanced Digital Broadcast will be demonstrating the expanded capabilities of the ADB-4820C, including its USB DVR support, during the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo October 28-30 in Denver. -ends- About ADB Advanced Digital Broadcast (www.adbglobal.com) is a leader in the design, development and supply of high-quality products to the world-wide digital television market.
