February 11, 2010 – Geneva, Switzerland: Advanced Digital Broadcast (www.adbglobal.com), a leading supplier of technology to the global digital television industry, announced today that Telekom Austria has introduced advanced ‘connected home’ capabilities on its aonTV IPTV service using ADB set-top devices and software technology. Among many innovations, the new aonTV MediaBox service enables Telekom Austria’s subscribers to view DivX® content on their TV. Telekom Austria is the first operator in Europe to provide DivX Certified® set-top boxes to its subscribers.

ADB’s standard-based Connected Home solution allows consumers to access content available from any DLNA, UPnP or Windows Media Connect device within the home network. Consequently Telekom Austria subscribers can easily retrieve custom slide shows, video and music files from their PC or other connected devices, and play them onto their television. Existing subscribers are able to benefit from this new service, via an automatic software update.

"With our aonTV MediaBox we are turning multimedia technology into a personal and individual experience for our customers - an objective which is in line with our innovation strategy,” comments Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO Telekom Austria Group. “Moreover, the interconnection of the TV set, the PC and the mobile phone is demonstrating the full potential of the networked home. Therefore, we are not only setting the course in digital entertainment, but we are also anticipating the future needs of our customers."

Wojciech Doganowski, VP and General Manager of ADB’s IPTV Business Unit, comments: “Telekom Austria is continually striving to improve its customer experience through innovation, and the aonTV MediaBox sets a new benchmark for converged IPTV service offerings. We are very proud of our role in providing both the software and set-top box hardware for this service. Telekom Austria is giving its customers a completely new consumer TV experience - allowing them to bring together more content from more places and presenting it in exciting ways, whilst hiding any complexity from its customers.”

Matt Milne, Senior Vice President and GM, Licensing at DivX, adds: “The ADB set-top boxes used by Telekom Austria facilitates the seamless transfer of video content, enabling consumers to enjoy their DivX video collections, on the television. We’re pleased to work with ADB in satisfying the demand for DivX Certified set-top boxes in Europe.”

ADB’s 3800W IPTV set-top boxes were selected by Telekom Austria back in 2007 for its aonTV service. The enhanced aonTV MediaBox service commenced its roll-out to Telekom Austria’s existing IPTV customers in September 2009 and will be offered to all new subscribers.
